Gratitude Journey
“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” – Thornton Wilder
There’s so much knowledge behind gratitude. It is said to make our lives better, right? Like, there’s something that happens in our brain when we are grateful… and it rewrites neural pathways. Wow.
I am generally an optimistic, light-hearted person, but this time during COVID-19 has been a challenge. The weight of the world seems to be heavier than the flowers blooming. But it doesn’t have to be. As I acknowledge grief and the heaviness of my mental load, it gets lighter. As I share my thoughts and express my feelings, it gets lighter. And as I take note of the good things all around me, even when the bad is still there, things seem lighter.
As I loaded up my arms with the props to take this photo shoot - yes, tea included - I was grateful for fresh air (cold, breezy Rochester air). I was grateful that I had a moment of sunshine before the gray clouds inevitably covered the sky. And I was grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts with all of you.
And of course, I am super grateful for the magnolia trees this time of year. They're gorgeous!!
Did you happen to see the video in the last blog post of our drive down Oxford?
I’m trying to make this gratitude thing a habit. Would you like to join me? Or maybe you’re already there expressing your gratitude to the universe everyday. Comment below if you’re joining me with 3 things you’re grateful for each day. And follow along on Instagram as I share mine!
Much love to you all as you walk through these uncertain days and try to find the good beneath the bad.
